CHOD acquired control of the then bankrupt Southeast Arizona Medical Center. In desperate need of operational funds, CHOD received a loan approval from the Authority in the amount of $500,000. In recognition of the significant risks associated with this loan, the Authority required additional security in the form of real property to secure the loan approval. At the time the loan was approved, clear title to the property could not be demonstrated. As a compromise, the Authority funded a loan in the amount of $350,000 secured by the accounts receivable of the hospital.
